One of the world’s most exciting ice dance teams, Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck, is coming to Lithuania. Representing Spain, the duo is known for its original programmes, exceptional costumes and energetic performances. On April 3, 2027, they will take part in ELEMENTS 3: GALAXY, an ice show at Žalgirio Arena in Kaunas.

This will be Smart and Dieck’s debut in the ELEMENTS ice show. The three-time Spanish champions will arrive in Kaunas following one of the most successful seasons of their careers, during which they finished inside the top ten at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games and placed fifth at the World Championships in Prague.

The Spanish duo stands out for more than just its sporting achievements. Their performances attract particular attention for their original choreography, musical choices, theatrical expression and costumes, which have already earned the pair a prestigious International Skating Union (ISU) award.

Established Among the World’s Top Ice Dance Teams

Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck began skating together in 2022 and have made remarkable progress in recent seasons, establishing themselves among the world’s ice dance elite.

The pair finished 19th at the 2024 World Championships but climbed to sixth place just a year later in Boston. During the same season, they earned their first Grand Prix medal together, claiming bronze at the prestigious Skate America competition.

Another important milestone came at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, where Smart and Dieck finished ninth.

However, their most impressive performance of the season came at the World Championships in Prague. Sitting in sixth place after the rhythm dance, the Spanish team scored 125.31 points in the free dance, achieving the second-highest score among all competitors.

They were surpassed only by Olympic, World and European champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, who will also perform at ELEMENTS 3: GALAXY.

In the overall standings, Smart and Dieck finished fifth with 206.37 points, setting a new personal best.

Dune – Two Programmes That Earned International Recognition

One of the defining features of Smart and Dieck’s skating has been their programmes inspired by the music of the science fiction films Dune.

Their first Dune programme, created for the 2024–2025 season, stood out for its dramatic choreography, expressive music and original costumes. At the 2025 World Championships in Boston, the pair achieved the third-highest free dance score and soon received special recognition for their artistic creativity.

At the 2025 ISU Figure Skating Awards, Smart and Dieck won the Best Costume award, recognizing the finest costumes of the season. Their programme was also nominated in the Most Entertaining Program category.

Several well-known names from the figure skating world contributed to the award-winning costumes. Olivia’s outfit was designed by multiple World champion Madison Chock, while Tim’s costume was created by renowned designer Mathieu Caron.

Following the programme’s success, Smart and Dieck decided to continue the Dune story for the 2025–2026 Olympic season. The result was Dune: Part Two, an entirely new free dance featuring different music, choreography and artistic expression.

The decision proved successful. At the 2026 World Championships in Prague, the new programme received the second-highest free dance score of the competition.

Different Backgrounds, One Shared Journey

Although Smart and Dieck now represent Spain, both athletes brought different international experiences to their partnership.

Born in the United Kingdom, Olivia Smart has represented Spain since 2016. At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, she finished eighth alongside her former partner Adrián Díaz.

German-born Tim Dieck previously represented his home country before officially obtaining Spanish citizenship in September 2025, allowing the new partnership to compete together at the Olympic Games.

The Milano Cortina Games also marked an important milestone for Spanish figure skating, as the country was represented by two ice dance teams at the Olympics for the first time in history.

Smart and Dieck are three-time Spanish champions, and their achievements in recent seasons have contributed to Spain’s growing presence among the world’s leading figure skating nations.

Training Alongside Lithuania’s Leading Ice Dance Team

The Spanish duo trains in Canada at the renowned Ice Academy of Montreal, home to some of the strongest ice dance teams in the world.

Smart and Dieck are coached by Marie-France Dubreuil, Patrice Lauzon and Romain Haguenauer, the same specialists who train Lithuania’s leading ice dance team, Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevičius.

Both teams share the same training environment and regularly compete against each other at major international events. At the 2026 World Championships in Prague, the Spanish duo finished fifth, while the Lithuanian team placed seventh.

On April 3, 2027, both Smart and Dieck and Reed and Ambrulevičius will perform at Žalgirio Arena in Kaunas as part of the third edition of ELEMENTS.

ELEMENTS 3: GALAXY – A New Universe on Ice

Olivia Smart and Tim Dieck will make their first appearance among the world-class cast of ELEMENTS.

Joining them at Žalgirio Arena will be Olympic, World and European champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron, Lithuania’s leading ice dance team Allison Reed and Saulius Ambrulevičius, Olympic bronze medalist Matteo Rizzo, and other leading figure skaters from around the world.

The third edition of ELEMENTS will return to Lithuania’s largest arena with a completely new theme, GALAXY. The production will bring together world-class figure skating, live music, lighting, video projections, special effects and large-scale technical and stage production.

Known for their original choreography, distinctive costumes and energetic performances, the Spanish duo will become another exciting addition to the international cast of the third ELEMENTS show.
